We all know how beautiful Chicago is, but the constant chaos could bring us stress so it’s a must to move to suburbia.
Well, with age priorities changed and constant traffic and fighting for parking spots in the middle of a polar vortex became less and less fun. Fast forward to today, after starting a relationship with my best friend, I made a decision to move to North Barrington and here is what I absolutely love about it!
One of the best places to move from Chicago is Barrington. Barrington is located in Cook County and it has a population of a little over 10,000 as of December 2020. The Average Home Price here is around $567,000.
Barrington offers a lot of benefits for homeowners, whether you are single or supporting a family.
Here are four distinct benefits:
1. Easy and fast Travel to and fro the city
It is very convenient, easy and fast to travel to the city, with many hassle-free transport options to choose from.
Barrington is not too far away from the city. You are about a 45-minute drive with no traffic. You can take the Metra from downtown Barrington hassle-free and arrive in the city in about a little over an hour - with express metra taking you daily in even less time.
2. Topnotch educational system
One important thing to consider when you have kids is whether you can get them a decent school to study in. Here in Barrington, that’s absolutely not a problem! Barrington District 220 schools are consistently among the top in state and national rankings. Just to give you an overview, Barrington High School has been named one of America’s Best High Schools in US News and World Report as recently as 2020 and 2021.
Furthermore, Barrington was named as the Best District in Illinois by 24/7 Wall Street and the district is a recipient of 11 National Blue Ribbon Awards while still maintaining a balanced budget for 22 consecutive years.
3. Diverse park district with fitness and wellness programs
The calendar is always full and this community encourages everyone from all ages to stay healthy. What I love is that even though the district is so spread out, everyone gets together and knows each other.
4. Barrington is safer than 84% of all US cities.
You can take solace in knowing that the violent crime rating is low in this area, making it more likely that your kids and other family members will be safe if you move here.
5. Infinite recreational activities
There are plenty of recreation activities in Barrington to do with your friends and family! Dining in downtown Barrington is a sure delight. Flesk Brewing at Ice House Mall has a great atmosphere, perfect for quenching your thirst. You can also order delicious food at Chessie’s Restaurant at the same mall. You cannot miss dates at Shirley’s Piano Bar, and brunches at Canteen’s .
Shop, dine, and play at the South Barrington Arboretum! And don’t forget to visit our Historical Society, library, parks, and the historic Catlow Theatre.
If you want to go for some outdoor fun, Barrington outskirts have golf courses, horse farms, and it’s just a few miles away from Fox River boating, and by boat, you are about 30-minute from the chain lakes.
Conclusion
Barrington is definitely a place of comfort, peace, and convenience - three things that we need to have a happy living but remember the most important thing is for you to know what you want and find it.
So, what do you think? Can Barrington be your new home?
